How to trade in shares, ETFs and certificates in George

Besides mutual funds you can now trade in shares, certificates or ETFs in GEORGE.

Who can trade securities in George?

Only natural persons may actively trade in securities in George.

What do I need to trade in shares in George?

So that you can trade in George, you need to have an asset account and cash account in the currency in which you want to make transactions. In practice this means that for example if you want to buy a security in EUR you need to have a foreign currency account in EUR.

Which shares can I buy?

You can trade in all titles that are offered in the “Find and Buy” offer. Our bank offers trading on leading local and global stock exchanges in all relevant currencies (Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, USA and Great Britain).

What types of securities can I trade in?

You can now trade in mutual funds, shares, ETFs and certificates in  George. In future you can also look forward to trading in bonds.

According to what can I find a specific security?

All you need to do is enter the initial letter of the name of the security or its ISIN and George will prompt you. Then you just need to select the security you want to trade and continue to fill in the buy order.

When can I buy shares?

Shares, ETFs and certificates can be bought at any time via George. The order will be sent to the market during the trading hours of the market where you want to buy. If you place the transaction outside trading hours, the order is in “entered” status and is waiting for the given stock exchange to open. As soon as the stock exchange opens, the order will be sent and its status will change to “active on the market”. You can always check the order in George in the history of open orders.

Will I be able to trade in shares on a mobile phone?

You can trade on the desktop version of George and also in a mobile application.

What is INTRADAY trading and is it offered by GEORGE?

This is a form of trading when you buy a security and sell it on the very same trading day. In George you cannot make these transactions. You can continue to trade with bought securities only after settling the transaction, i.e. once they are credited to the asset account. (T+2 up to 4 days after completion of the order on the market).

What is the difference between a bid/buy and ask/sell price?

The bid/buy price is the highest price that the buyer is willing to pay for the security at a given time. The ask/sell price is the lowest price that the seller is willing to sell the security for at a given time. The bid/buy price will almost always be lower than the ask/sell price.

What is the price delay?

The prices in  George are displayed according to the market standard, i.e. with a 15-minute delay. If the online price is not available, the last available price (last transaction price) is displayed. In this case we will notify you of this fact during the course of the transaction.

Can I see the number of securities for buying/selling for the best market prices in George?

Yes, the so-called first market depth level is displayed in George. The values are always connected with the prices and you can find them on the search page of the new security from the “Find and Buy” offer and when filling in the buy order.

What are the trading fees?

The Price List contains a list of all the fees. If making a transaction via internet banking the prices are lower.

What types of orders can be entered and how do they work?

• MARKET – Order that can be carried out without a defined limit. The actual realisation price depends on the market trend and can differ significantly from the last available price at the time the trading order was entered. This can result in an overdraft of available funds or a sale for a significantly lower price.
• STOP MARKET – Order will become active only and if the transaction is made on the market for the same or high (buy order) / lower (sell order) price than the activation price entered by you (does not apply to certificates). An order with no defined limit for its execution, i.e. with no sell/buy price limit.
• LIMIT – Maximum buying/minimum selling price for which it is possible to trade a security on a given market is determined by the limit price you set.
• STOP LIMIT – Order will become active only and if the transaction is made on the market for the same or high (buy order) / lower price (sell order) price than the activation price placed by you (does not apply to certificates). The limit price determines the maximum buying/minimum selling price for which a security can be traded.

What are order statuses and what do they mean?

• Entered (Placement) – Order is entered (placed) and waits to be sent to the market.
• Active on the market – Transaction order was sent to the market and waits for realisation.
• Partly realised – Transaction order was partly met at this moment.
• Realised – Transaction order is fully met and closed.
• Waits to be cancelled – Transaction order waits to be cancelled based on the client’s request.
• Partly realised/cancelled by the client – Transaction order is partly met and then cancelled by the client.
• Cancelled by the client – Transaction order was cancelled by the client.
• Rejected by the market – Transaction order was rejected by the market.
• Expired – Validity of the transaction order has expired.
• Partly realised/expired – Transaction order was partly met and then its validity expired.

How do investment reservations work in George?

For selected investment products, such as shares, ETFs, bonds, so-called "money cover" is required already at the time when the client submits an buy order of a security. At this moment, an investment reservation is created on the cash account, from which the purchase will be paid for, and lasts similarly to the card payment until the transaction is completed and settled. The duration of the reservation varies and depends on the type of product

Can I cancel an order?

An order can be cancelled if its status allows. After opening the order detail in Order History (open orders) the “Cancel” button is either active or inactive.

What types of transactions of securities traded on stock exchanges does George allow?

You can buy and sell securities in George.

Where can I find details of an executed transaction?

As soon as you place the transaction order, you will straightaway see it in the history where you can track it. When the transaction is settled or the order’s validity expires, it will appear in the closed orders in the Order History. We will also send you transaction statements through the channel you select when signing the contract (just as when trading in mutual funds).

How long will it take before the money gets to my account when I sell the shares?

The actual transaction is not settled until the so called Settlement Date − Transaction Settlement Date. This differs depending on the security and selected market. On this date there is activity in the asset (securities) and settlement account (money). 

Will I find information about selected shares in  George?

Of course, the share prices and market depth are available in George. Currently you will not find other details here, but it will be possible in future. To obtain information about securities you can visit www.investicnicentrum.cz or freely download the mobile version of this website.

What does ‘best exe’ mean?

A market can be described as ‘best exe’ on which a purchase or sale can be made under the best possible conditions.

What is the safe keeping fee which I see in the transaction statement?

This is the so-called securities safe keeping fee. We calculate the safe keeping fee daily from the current value of securities. The listed securities are valued by their market price, not listed securities and bonds by their nominal value. The amount is added together and totally accounted once per quarter. The minimum price for the safe keeping of securities in the asset account is CZK 25 per quarter.
